What a great week we had with Colombia as our Specialty! A BIG THANK YOU to Gabriella, Camp Chair, and the Planning Committee for their work through the year. Camp happens only because of the volunteers who work all week long and even before La Semana.

Camper Surveys
In the next week or so, a camp survey will be emailed to you. Please share your thoughts about camp. Campers shared their thoughts in a survey at camp, but if they missed the opportunity, they can share through the link that will be emailed.

T-Shirts
Don’t worry if you see odd colors on your child’s back or skin. Today, campers signed each other’s t-shirts with Sharpie – sometimes it shows up underneath the shirt as well.

PLAC (Parents of Latin American Children)
The current PLAC Board is excited to announce our new PLAC Board members!

  • President: Nathan Eckstein
  • Treasurer: Katie Hinz

We look forward to the transition into the next chapter of PLAC and its associated programs – La Semana, Corazon Latino, and Alumnos. Here’s a little about each new member.

Nathan: Nathan is an alumni of camp and has volunteered in the past on the PLAC Board as the Alumnos Representative. While at camp Nathan hosted Fiesta and taught dance. Nathan brings us a wealth of experience, as he has served on past leadership committees, volunteered in multiple leadership roles, and has served on other Boards. Nathan is completing his Masters of Architecture degree at the U of MN and is excited to engage in the work and be in community with the members of this organization.

Katie: Katie is an alumni of camp and has volunteered on the PLAC Board as the Alumnos Representative as well as La Semana Co-chair of Specialty and La Semana Fiesta Chair, totaling 11 years of camp leadership experience. While at Winona State University her leadership roles included Community Service Chair, President of Latin American Student Organization, Philanthropy Chair, Alumni Chair, Scholarship Chair, Sisterhood Remembrance Chair, and ASO Representative for her sorority. Katie currently serves on her church’s Board of Trustees, is a member of church Council, and assists in the handbell ministry. She is also completing her final year of her Bachelors of Architecture degree at Dunwoody while working at an architecture firm in St. Paul.

Sarah:  Sarah is also an alumni of camp and attended for 12 years in a row. Sarah graduated from California State University with a bachelor’s degree in English and Literature. She has volunteer experience working as an Americorps service member in California’s Superior court system during college. Sarah has past experience working as a paralegal and is currently in Law School focusing on community outreach through non profit clinics working in Family Law. She lives in San Diego and enjoys spending free time with her English Bulldog, Guac.
