It’s officially April and registration is right around the corner! We are aiming to release registration in the coming weeks of early April so be sure to watch for our email!

La Semana Dates 2023

Mark off your calendars for the week of July 24th and we mean the whole week! For the first time since 2019, La Semana will run Monday, July 24th to Friday, July 28th. High-level, you can plan for the following:

  • Monday: Evening welcome dinner & flag ceremony.
  • Tuesday through Thursday: Camp curriculum (specialty, dance, crafts, some llamas maybe?, etc.)
  • Friday: Special curriculum & fiesta!

More exciting details to come.

La Semana Specialty 2023

This year we are excited to announce our specialty country of the year is Colombia! We are working hard to put together an amazing curriculum for you all. If you are interested in being a part of curriculum development, or have any ideas about what should be included, please contact chair@lasemana.org.

La Semana Social Media

One of our new roles this year is a social media coordinator in order to improve and expand La Semana’s online presence leading up to camp. We are currently sorting through and looking for great camp photos to post on social media! Online safety is our top priority.

Each year at registration, parents are given an option to opt in or out of photos. If you have opted in to the photo release on registration in the last year we will operate under that permission unless we receive communication from you telling us otherwise. Please consider this when you register for camp this year as well. It is important to note that, whatever the circumstances, if you ever feel uncomfortable about appearing in a posted photo, please reach out to chair@lasemana.org and we will be happy to switch it out.

Additionally, please let us know if you have any pictures you’d like to send us for potential use!

Other Important Updates

This year will be the last year for several of our hard working PLAC volunteers. In order to operate as an organization, the positions of PLAC President, Treasurer, and Secretary are required. Additionally, we are looking for individuals who would be willing to step into La Semana Representative and Los Alumnos Representative roles, potentially as soon as next year.

All current volunteers fulfilling these essential positions are willing to mentor and share details of their positions this year with anyone interested. If you’d like to learn more, please contact chair@lasemana.org

Neither PLAC or La Semana will be able to run next year without filling these positions. The organization will take steps to dissolve if no one steps up to lead by April 21st. Please see the previous PLAC email for more information.

Pre-camp Volunteer Positions

We need to fill several positions on the planning team as we begin planning camp. To plan the best camp possible, we need volunteers to fill the following positions as soon as possible. If you don’t fit these roles, but are looking for a way to help, please reach out and we will work with you to find a suitable role. We have plenty!

Adoption Resources Coordinator-

We are looking for an individual to head a small team who will work to develop a curriculum surrounding adoption for this year. This is a pre-camp role and will require presence at some planning meetings. This is a research heavy role, with the main goal being to find the best resources, professionals, and format for this curriculum and propose them to the planning team. We also are interested in a couple of individuals looking to join this team!

Specialty Coordinator-

Design, plan, and execute a fun and unique cultural experience for campers of all ages surrounding the designated country of the year. This includes heavy pre-camp planning as well as leading specialty programming during camp week.

Social Event Coordinator-

Works closely with the volunteer team to oversee and coordinate all social events including welcome dinner, evening activities, graduation, teen events, and flag ceremony. Pre-camp work as well as presence at most or all social events required.

Reach out to Chair@lasemana.org if you’re interested or would like additional information.
