A few announcements for your awareness:

  • Status of Parents of Latin American Children (PLAC)
  • Camp Dates and Registration Information
  • Corazon Update

Status of PLAC:

As communicated earlier this year (Jan 7 and Feb 1), we are in critical need of applicants to serve in the three Officer roles on the Board of Directors (President, Treasurer, and Secretary). So far, we have not received any applications. Check out the website for more information.

If there are no qualified applicants to elect to the three mandatory Board positions by midnight (Central Time) Saturday, April 22, 2023 the current Board of Directors will take the necessary steps to dissolve the 501 (c)3 organization. Steps include, but are not limited to: notifying the State Attorney General and IRS of our intention to dissolve, paying all bills / reimbursements, selling or donating assets (trailer, supplies, etc.) per our charter (some possibly pre-camp) and donating any remaining funds to another 501 (c )3 non-profit and closing our account by the end of this calendar year so that we can prepare and file a final tax return and annual report.

It is critical to note that if there are no qualified applicants, this will be the last year for La Semana and Corazon.

Camp Dates and Registration Information:

Mark your calendar for camp: Monday, July 24 through Friday, July 28. Camp will kick off with a picnic on Monday and will end on Friday with a ‘Fiesta’ with food, a DJ, and fun. Exact times and agenda to be communicated soon.

Registration will be opening soon. If you are in a year-round position on the planning team, watch your email beginning April 3 for registration information. General registration will begin April 10. Registration fees will remain the same as last year, even with the addition of one full day of programming.

  • Board of Directors = $100
  • La Semana Planning Committee = $125
  • Full time Volunteer = $250
  • Non-Volunteer = $400
  • Ayudante = $75

Corazon Update:

Practice has kicked off and our dancers are preparing for performances during Fiesta as well as at the BOOM Festival on Saturday August 26. We will circulate information when we know more.

We are beginning to plan an event for all current and past dancers. More to come.
